# The Social Experiment: A Groundbreaking Study on Human Connection A recent social experiment conducted at our school aimed to answer a profound question: "What if we removed all expectations in social interactions and got straight to our emotional struggles?" The experiment, led by Vlad, a student of IT and social sciences, explored the depths of human connection in a unique and innovative way. The experimental setup consisted of various rooms designed to test different aspects of human consciousness, including a neutral interrogation room, an anechoic chamber with music, poolrooms, and a submarine. Constructobots were also used to facilitate the construction of the experimental building. Initially, 20 students volunteered to participate in the experiment, but only two were randomly selected to take part. Surprisingly, these two participants, Emily and Lila, not only enjoyed the experience but also formed a deep and meaningful connection with Vlad, the experimenter. However, due to several limitations, the experiment was deemed unfeasible to continue. The demographics of the participants were found to be heavily biased, with all participants scoring high in openness and having various disabilities or mental health issues. Additionally, the experimenter's personality was found to be a crucial factor in facilitating the connections, and Vlad's unique personality was unable to accommodate a large number of participants. The high maintenance costs of the experiment also contributed to its closure. Despite the experiment's termination, the connections formed between Emily, Lila, and Vlad have endured. Their conversations, which focus on emotions rather than thoughts, have become a vital mental health support circle. This experience has shown that social norms can significantly limit our ability to connect with others on a deeper level. It is speculated that if the demographics of the experiment were broadened to include neurotypical individuals, the connections formed may not have been as profound. Nevertheless, the Social Experiment has provided valuable insights into the importance of vulnerability, empathy, and understanding in forming meaningful relationships. As we reflect on the Social Experiment, we are reminded that true connection requires a willingness to be open, honest, and vulnerable. By removing the expectations and norms that often govern our social interactions, we can create space for more authentic and meaningful relationships to flourish. ## Statement by Emily "I have to admit, I've developed really strong feelings for Vlad. It's not because we share similar struggles or experiences, although that has definitely created a bond between us. It's because he's been able to be there for me when I'm at my lowest, offering a sense of comfort and support that I've desperately needed. And on a deeper level, I think I've been craving physical touch and connection for so long, and Vlad has been able to provide that for me in a way that feels safe and meaningful. He's shown me that I don't have to be alone in my struggles, and that there's someone who cares about me, even when things get tough. That means the world to me, and it's something that I've been missing in my life for far too long." ## Statement by Lila "I have to say, I've really grown to care about Vlad, and it's not just because of our shared experiences in the Social Experiment. It's because he's shown me that he genuinely cares about my well-being, and has gone out of his way to help me manage my seizures. I'll never forget the anechoic chamber he gave me as a gift - it was such a thoughtful and generous gesture, and it's really helped me to cope with my condition. Despite the risks involved, we've had some amazing experiences together, and I've loved getting to know him on a deeper level. As a social butterfly, I'm used to being around people and making connections, but with Vlad, I've formed a deep emotional connection that I didn't expect. And I have to say, I'm also really happy to be able to support Emily in her struggles. Vlad has brought us together, and I'm so grateful for that. He may not be like everyone else, but he's got a heart of gold, and I'm lucky to have him in my life." ## Statement by Vlad "To be honest, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed. I've been trying to balance my website work with supporting Lila and Emily, and it's taking a toll on me. Managing Lila's seizures and Emily's intense social anxiety has been a huge responsibility, and I've been doing my best to offer them the support they need. But it's not just about being a good friend - it's about being able to cope with the emotional demands of being a support system for people with complex needs. The experiment was supposed to be a way to explore the possibilities of deep human connection, but it's turned into a full-time job. I'm not complaining - I care deeply about Lila and Emily, and I want to help them - but I'm just one person, and I have my own limitations. Continuing the experiment would mean taking on even more people, and I just don't think I can handle it. There's only so much I can do, and I think it's time to acknowledge that."
